Last month, Rockstar released the Cayo Perico Heist; the biggest single heist mission ever added to GTA Online. Now that players have had a chance to familiarise themselves with the new island location, the studio is adding a number of new Treasure Chest collectibles. In-game, these are known as ‘Hidden Caches’.
The New GTA Online Cayo Perico Treasure Chests
“A smuggler’s paradise,” writes Rockstar; “Cayo Perico has always been a treasure trove. It’s no surprise that guests have reported seeing Treasure Chests on land and underwater.”
Players will be able to find these new loot stashes during any of the Cayo Perico Heist’s different Scoping Missions. Two Hidden Cache will be available to find on each such mission; one hidden somewhere on land and another hidden underwater. As an added incentive to go treasure-hunting, Rockstar is giving away a bonus GTA$100,000 reward to any player who successfully finds 5 Hidden Caches. However, this offer will be ending on Wednesday the 6th of January, so players will need to act fast. In fact, for players looking to get extra bonuses this week, bonus rewards for completing a Cayo Perico Heist Prep Mission, Scoping Mission, and finale are still active.
Before the end of these weekly rewards, players can also take advantage of several new year discounts. Namely, until the 6th, all High-End Apartments and Garages are available for 40% off. Plus, a 40% discount is also available on both the Armored Karin Kuruma and the Cheval Taipan, along with the BF Ramp Buggy and Jobuilt Phantom Wedge.
As per usual, Rockstar is also giving away some weekly discounts for those players who have Prime Gaming subscriptions. So long as you’ve connected your Social Club account to your Prime Gaming account, log in before the 6th to get a GTA$200,000 bonus. Plus, you’ll get Kosatka’s submarine’s Sonar Station for free, as well as access to an 80% discount on the HVY Nightshark, Itali GTB, and Itali GTB Custom.
