With Thursday night’s reveal of the NFL schedule 2020, football fans learned of the big matchups on the way in the upcoming season. Among them will be a Week 1 battle involving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints, as well as a Chiefs-Ravens battle in Week 3. That will involve the 2020 Madden cover star Lamar Jackson against last year’s cover athlete Patrick Mahomes.
Madden cover stars face off in Week 3 of NFL schedule 2020
Earlier today, we saw the first Madden 21 gameplay footage introduced by the game’s current cover star Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs. It included a look at six seconds of gameplay for the next generation Xbox Series X console. That new game comes out sometime in August or later this year, just ahead of the start of the NFL schedule 2020.
During Thursday night’s NFL schedule reveal, it was made known that the Kansas City Chiefs will be involved in the first game of the new season. Mahomes and the Super Bowl champs face Deshaun Watson host the Houston Texans on Thursday, Sept. 10 to kick things off.
Another big matchup looms as Mahomes and the Chiefs will visit the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3. That means Madden 21 cover star and league MVP Lamar Jackson gets a chance to show just why he is the new face of the game.
Mahomes graced the cover of Madden 20 following his MVP season and then won the Super Bowl, breaking what some felt was a Madden cover curse. Now Jackson is hoping to have similar success as MVP and cover star. He’ll have plenty of time to shine in the new season too as his team will be featured in five primetime games this season.
Other schedule highlights include Vegas debut, Brady vs. Brees
A major story heading into the new football season will be quarterback Tom Brady playing for his new team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He’ll be featured plenty of times over the course of the season.
However, his Week 1 battle is an epic one, as he takes on another of the game’s top QBs in Drew Brees. The two teams will battle in New Orleans on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 4:25 p.m. Eastern Time.
Brees reached the Madden 99 club this past season based on his passing numbers and historic records. Brady didn’t reach that level this past season but he has before. He also can gloat he has more Super Bowl rings.
However, will Brady be able to win another in Tampa Bay? Fans are anxious to see what he can do already. This game against one of the NFC’s best teams will be a good measuring stick.
While Brady gets started in Tampa Bay, the Patriots will look to a new era in New England under coach Bill Belicheck. In addition to that, the Raiders begin their campaign in Las Vegas. That will probably mean a new stadium and commentary about the team appearing in the Madden 21 game.
The Raiders’ home debut game in Vegas comes on Monday Night Football on Sept. 21 when they’ll host Brees and the Saints on ESPN and ABC. They’ll have four home prime-time games over the course of the season.
With the Madden video game, fans should be able to play or simulate games from the NFL schedule 2020. In addition, the regular season often provides upgrades for players based on weekly performances. The popular Team of the Week arrives during the season for Ultimate Team, giving upgraded cards to top performers.
Based on all the storylines heading into the new season, it should be a fun ride for football fans!
