The new NHL 19 ratings challenge event is underway as the competitions will help gamers get a boost for a team’s winning player. Each challenge will feature a different team, and the first is the reigning champion Washington Capitals. They’ve got two of their players in a series of different situations to test their skills with one player rising to the challenge. Here are the latest details on which Capitals player won his playable self a special Hockey Ultimate Team (HUT) item.

NHL 19 Ratings Challenge: Kuznetsov vs. Orlov

The Washington Capitals’ Evgeny Kuznetsov and Dmitry Orlov squared off in the first official NHL 19 Ratings Challenge. The two players competed in three different competitions with accuracy, puck control, and deking each put to the test.

For example, in the “Accuracy” challenge the two players took shots at bobbleheads placed on top of the goal. Each player was timed to see how quickly they could shoot and destroy all three bobbleheads on the goal.

In the “Deking” competition, each player had two chances for deke goals against the goalie. The player gave their goals a special bit of celebration personality afterward. EA Sports’ NHL 19 Twitter account shared the video of the two teammates going head-to-head in the challenge (below).

As seen in the video clip, the four different deking challenge goals were “The Shrug,” “The Bird,” “Hi Mom,” and “The Shoots and Ladders.” EA also posted a Twitter poll asking for the fan favorite out of those different goals. Winning the vote at 42 percent overall was “The Bird” goal followed by “Shoots and Ladders” at 28 percent.

NHL 19 Ratings Challenge: Kuznetsov gets HUT Diamond item

When it was all said and done, Kuznetsov was able to capture the overall Ratings Challenge win against Orlov. With his victory in the first of the NHL 19 Ratings Challenge events, it brings a boosted ratings Diamond HUT item for Kuznetsov. Gamers are able to get the special item in HUT packs within the NHL 19 game right now.

Kuznetsov was already among the fastest players in the game and had NHL 19 ratings of Deking 95, Passing 94, and Puck Control 94. He was also the highest-rated Capitals player in the game after goalie Carey Price and superstar Alex Ovechkin. Now he’s rewarded with the special Diamond HUT item and a new boost.
