Ni No Kuni 2 Is Broken on PS4 Pro and There’s No Fix for It (So Far)

Ni No Kuni 2 is broken and at the moment nobody knows how to fix it. Despite being lauded by critics as a game-changer for the JRPG genre, there are some out there who believe that the game lacks the depth and soul of its predecessor. And that isn’t even getting into the criticism of how the game, when it debuted worldwide on March 28th, felt far too easy at launch. Of course a patch has addressed that criticism, but other issues (such as the game crashing) still have yet to be fixed, and as to be expected, players aren’t happy.

An individual from Midlife Gamer recently reached out to Bandai Namco after running into problems with the game on their PS4 Pro,  stating that despite their numerous tweaking to try and fix the issues that were in their game, the problem persisted. The individual felt that perhaps it was an issue of the firmware update clashing with one of Ni No Kuni 2’s patches, and mentioned that in their correspondence with Bandai Namco.

The response from Bandai Namco reads like so:

“Thank you for reaching out to us. We are sorry to hear about the performance issues you’ve been experiencing in the game. We also appreciate all the detailed information you’ve provided about the troubleshooting steps you took and the results obtained (or unfortunately the lack of thereof).” It continues. “The team was aware that some users experience these performance problems and that, ironically enough, the issue was most prevalent for PlayStation Pro users.”

“The devs have rolled out a number of changes to address the problem, which have mostly fixed performance issues. What you’re currently describing could very well be a compatibility problem with a newer firmware update on the PlayStation Pro, though it is hard to be certain. Rolling back might help, but unfortunately, that is not an official PlayStation procedure that we can recommend or link to. It seems that you have already tried the common fixes and we don’t think there are any other standard manipulations that might help.”

“We will notify the developers that there are new performance issues on the PlayStation Pro. Hopefully, a future patch will be able to resolve the problem. If there are any changes to the situation, please let us know.”

There you have it, Ni No Kuni 2 is broken for some players and Bandai Namco have no idea when it’ll be fixed. We can’t imagine how disappointed how some fans must be feeling right now, but we hope they’ll be able to play with the rest of us as soon as possible.
