Oakland A’s Great Latest to Join MLB The Show 19 Legends

Make way for the king! Rickey Henderson, who is arguably the best leadoff hitter in MLB history, is now officially an MLB The Show 19 legend. He wasn’t too bad when he was on the base path either.

MLB The Show 19 Legends Welcome Henderson

The MLB The Show crew announced their latest legend this afternoon and honestly, he was overdue. The latest GameStop Monday revealed that former Oakland A’s star Rickey Henderson was officially revealed as the latest star to join the legends club.

For many seasons Henderson was an opposing teams’ nightmare.  Henderson could hit for power, average and turn a simple single into a double almost every time he stood in the batter’s box.

The stats don’t lie

Rickey Henderson won two World Series rings. He also has three Silver Slugger Awards. If that isn’t enough, Henderson was a 10-time All-Star and an ALCS MVP. All of that is outstanding, however, Henderson will always be known for his speed first and foremost.

Henderson holds the all-time stolen base record with 1,406. The way the game is played today, that record may never be broken. Henderson shattered Lou Brock’s record of 938 stolen bases by nearly 500. The amazing thing about this record is the closest active player to Henderson is Jose Reyes.

Reyes, who is currently 33rd overall on the all-time stolen base list has 517. That puts him nearly 900 behind Henderson. You can never say never about a lot of things, but I don’t see anyone breaking Henderson all-time stolen base record – ever!

Congrats to Rickey Henderson! Now gamers will eagerly await the remaining legends to be revealed before the season gets underway. The final legend announcement may come later this week during the next MLB The Show twitch live stream.

Remember gamers, it is 8 days and counting for the MLB The Show 19 official release on March 26.
