PC Games Are Now Being Published by PlayStation

It’s strange thinking of PlayStation as a publisher of PC games. But believe it or not, it has actually happened. It isn’t a huge surprise, being as PlayStation already talked about doing this just recently. But somehow, seeing it in real life is still astonishing, perhaps because Sony has never been particularly enthusiastic about cross-platform anything. Thankfully, the times appear to be changing the company’s attitude.

PlayStation is Now a PC Games Publisher

If you happened to be interested in the game ReadySet Heroes, you might have recently noticed that its listing is now posted on the Epic Games Store. And if you chanced to take a close look at it, you probably saw that Sony is the publisher listed. This is a first at the Epic Games Store.

If you don’t know anything about ReadySet Heroes, it is described as a game which unites elements of dungeon crawlers with arena games on a multiplayer stage. It is coming out on October 1st for PS4 and PC. Going by its description, it sounds like it’d be well worth grabbing a copy, whether for your PlayStation 4 console or your PC.

Although ReadySet Heroes is the first PC game Sony has published at the Epic Games Store, it doubtless will be followed by others soon. Discussing the matter of cross-platform publishing with Bloomberg, PlayStation head Shawn Layden said, “You will see in the future some titles coming out of my collection of studios which may need to lean into a wider installed base [than just PlayStation consoles].”
