PGA Tour 2K21 teaser trailer video

Wednesday morning brought us a brand new PGA Tour 2K21 teaser trailer. The reveal came on various social media including the official PGA Tour 2K Twitter and YouTube pages. It’s just a 17-second clip that shows off some of the graphics to expect when the new golf game arrives.

It’s footage from The Players tournament at TPC Sawgrass including aerial shots of the vivid greens, water near the course, and a large crowd. At least one golfer is seen from a distance as well as one of the course hole and a flag. Beyond that, not much all is revealed.

The graphics look brilliant, though and golf fans may welcome the return of the franchise which has really been without a title for many years. 2K is behind the popular NBA 2K20 game with most fans expecting an NBA 2K21.

In addition, they released WWE 2K20 which mostly received negative reviews from critics and users. The WWE game was shelved for 2020, but now 2K is in the golf game.

Based on other information that arrived with the PGA Tour 2K21 more details are due on May 14, 2020. There’s also the official website PGATour2K21.com to check out.

PGA Tour golf game history

The last time a PGA Tour golf game arrived was in July of 2015 with Rory McIlroy PGA Tour. That game was an Electronics Arts title available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One using the Frostbite 3 engine.

In fact, EA and EA Sports was behind the development of the PGA Tour series since the original PGA Tour Golf back in 1990. The series has spanned almost every imaginable system including outdated consoles like the Genesis, Game Gear, 3DO, and Saturn. From 1990 through 1997 it simply had a PGA Tour title with no professional golfer’s name attached.

Due to the popularity of Tiger Woods, he was the cover star with his name on the game since 1998’s Tiger Woods 99 PGA Tour Golf. That continued almost every year, but skipped 1999 and then 2014. In 2015, Rory McIlroy became the golf star on the cover with his name representing the game.

In 2014, HB Studios released The Golf Club on PS4, Xbox One, and PCs. They’d go on to produce The Golf Club VR in 2017 and Maximum Games took over to bring out The Golf Club 2.

In 2018, The Golf Club 2019 featuring PGA launched for PS4, Xbox One, and PC with 2K Sports as the publisher. The game has an 80 out of 100 score for Xbox One and 75 out of 100 for PS4 from the collection of critics’ reviews at Metacritic.

We have to wonder if PGA Tour 2K21 will somehow have Tiger Woods as the face of the game, or use one of the newer stars. Time will tell, but the reveal that 2K is bringing this golf game out has gamers already anticipating the possibility that 2K will announce a new football game next.
