PGA Tour 2K21 Trailer, Cover Athlete, and Release Date Revealed

In several months, the wait will be over for the return of PGA Tour golf to video game consoles! On Thursday, 2K Sports released their official PGA Tour 2K21 trailer giving more of a look at what’s to come with the new golf sim title. In addition, the cover athlete and release date are now official. Here’s what we know so far.

PGA Tour 2K21 Trailer arrives

Not long ago, we revealed the teaser trailer for the latest golf simulation video game. Now, a complete PGA Tour 2K21 trailer is here featuring a look at players and courses along with reveals of some of the features or modes to expect.

Billed as “the next sports franchise” in the trailer, we see this will be a collaboration between 2K Sports and HB Studios. The latter of these was the publisher on previous golf title The Club, which 2K became part of just a few short years ago.

In the new trailer, we see a variety of quick details. Gamers will “challenge the pros” and compete on real PGA courses and in their favorite tournaments. These include events like The PGA Championship and Players in a race to win the FedEx Cup. We also see there will be an all-new career mode as part of the game.

A deeper dive into the PGA Tour 2K21 features is available at the website indicating there are a total of 12 top pros in the game. We know who at least one of those pros is so far. 2K mentions that TPC Sawgrass and East Lake Golf Club are part of the game.

In similar fashion to NBA 2K titles, gamers will be able to build a MyPLAYER with custom options, equipment, and apparel. The game will also feature local and online multiplayer modes with full seasons or tournaments.

Some of the modes mentioned include Alt-Shot, Stroke Play, Skins, and 4-Player Scramble. It’s also revealed that Luke Elvy and Rich Been will provide the commentary.

Cover athlete and release date

Yesterday we looked at the PGA Tour 2K21 cover teaser, and many guesses were made about who might be on the front of the game. Those who guessed Justin Thomas were correct, and Thomas himself sent out a tweet to confirm. “Check it out! I’m the official face of #PGATOUR2K21,” Thomas said in his tweet, with a transformational video clip to make the reveal.

The game also has an official release date. PGA Tour 2K21 will arrive on August 21. The game will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PCs via Steam. There’s both a standard edition and a digital deluxe edition.

Physical and digital copies are mostly available for pre-order through the PGATour.2K.com website here.

Now gamers will just need to wait several months to get out on the virtual green!
