Play Zombies in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War for Free From Today

Starting today, the 25th of February, Activision has begun an all-new Free Access Week for the Multiplayer and Zombies portions of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. For the next week, a selection of those modes will be free-to-play for all, even including Season 2 content which also launched today.

The Black Ops Cold War Free Access Week

This is the second time that Activision has held a Free Access Week for Black Ops Cold War. Indeed, like the first, the event is timed to coincide with the launch of new content. (Giving prospective new players the chance to try it for themselves.) Season 2 went live earlier today, bringing a wealth of new content to both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. This content includes the third chapter of the Dark Aether Zombies storyline, which is the centrepiece of the Free Access Week. This chapter, Outbreak, is the largest yet, with a map so large that vehicles are required to get around.

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Free Access Week 2 Now Live 2

During the Free Access Week, players can access a relatively wide selection of modes and playlists in Black Ops Cold War. Most notably, these include Apocalypse 24/7, a new playlist which launched today as part of Season 2. As the name implies, it features a selection of modes which all take place on Apocalypse, the first new Season 2 map. Other available playlists include Gunfight Blueprints, 3v3 Face Off, Domination, Team Deathmatch, Nuketown 24/7, and 40-Player Multi-Team.

However, the headline feature of the Free Access Week is, of course, Outbreak. The all-new Zombies map will be fully available to free players; allowing anybody to experience the newest chapter alongside existing players. The Die Maschine and Firebase Z chapters will not be available for free, however; gamers will need to purchase Black Ops Cold War to get full access to those. However, PlayStation users can access Onslaught, a two-player Zombies horde mode which takes place on various multiplayer maps. This mode, which is available in the free access content, is currently exclusive to PlayStation consoles.
