PlayStation Store Refund Policies Updated by Sony

Refund policies have become quite the popular topic of discussion. Various game companies have been adapting their policies for customer demands. As such, Sony decided to update their PlayStation Store’s refund policies. This update allows consumers to get a refund for preorders purchased on the storefront.

This update on the PlayStation Network’s refund policies brings terms slightly similar to that of Steam and Epic Game Store’s. With PlayStation Store pre-orders, players can cancel their purchase ahead of the release date. Meanwhile, players who purchase any game will have the option to get a refund within 14 days. Unfortunately, the refund is only applicable if the product wasn’t downloaded.

However, there is a way to get a refund for players who downloaded or streamed the game. According to the official website, “Digital content that you have started downloading or streaming, and in-game consumables that have been delivered, are not eligible for a refund unless the content is faulty.”

Now, PlayStation subscription service purchases are a bit of a special case. PlayStation Plus, PlayStation Now, or Spotify Premium (via PlayStation Music) purchases can be refunded. However, the amount of the refund can change depending on the time elapsed from the purchase date.

“For example, if you buy a PlayStation Plus 12-Month Membership and request a refund seven days after the purchase date, the refund amount may be reduced to reflect any use of the subscription, such as playing online, downloading monthly games, using cloud storage, etc.” Said Sony on the official website.
