Pokemon GO Active Usage Is 35% Up Since May According To Niantic

2018 has treated Pokemon GO in the best way, washing away the downhill the previous year caused to the famous AR mobile game. This summer in particular has been the high point of the year, with the addition of trading and friend features in the game. According to Niantic activity in the game is now up by 35%.

In a blog post over at Niantic’s website, the company has letting fans know their participation in the summer events and their commitment to the game in general has been fruitful. The company pointed out that Pokemon GO has seen incredibly growth in activity since spring, with more than 113 million people made friends in-game and more than 2.2 billion gifts exchanged. Jonh Hanke, CEO of Niantic said:

Over the summer, tens of millions of Trainers around the world played Pokémon GO together every month, with a 35% increase in active usage since May. Since we introduced the new Social features at the end of June, more than 113 million Friend connections have been made and 2.2 billion Gifts have been sent to friends, showcasing how Trainers truly enjoy interacting with one another and playing together.

While the headlines are filled with examples of technology being used to divide us, our experiences this summer deepen our conviction that technology can be harnessed to enhance our lives in a positive way and bring us all closer together and strengthen our connection with the communities where we live and play.

To top that, Niantic is holding a few surprises for fans during this autumn, a few of which have been already revealed as this summer’s Ultra Bonus rewards for achieving the Field Research challenges.

We are now waiting for the 4th generation of Pokemon to get released in Pokemon GO, a move that has been in and out of conversation for quite some time now. Let’s hope it won’t be after the end of 2018.
