Prepare For Battlefield V With Battlefield 1943, Now On Xbox One

Battlefield V is coming, but it may be too far off for some people to wait patiently for. And Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is going to be quite a while. That’s why there’s more good news on the horizon in addition to the fact that the Call of Duty: WWII map Valkyrie is free this weekend. Thanks to the magic of backwards compatibility, Battlefield 1943 is now playable on Xbox One right now. So if you missed out on this excellent release, now’s your chance to play it via modern console.

EA has made the classic available as part of the ever-growing number of backwards compatible titles on the Xbox One, and this is one that you won’t want to miss. Originally having made its debut as a digital title, it’s a more casual riff on Battlefield 1942. Though it’s been quite some time since the game released, there are still plenty of folks playing it, even now, so you won’t be alone, especially since it’s being given a new lease on life.

When Battlefield 1942 first debuted, it could support up to 24 players across three maps, with vehicles you can command on land, in the air, and deep in the sea — there’s a lot going on. And you don’t even have to purchase the game if you want to get in on the action. You can try the game out as part of the EA Access Vault, if you subscribe to the service, or you can play it if you already bought it when it debuted on Xbox 360 by redownloading it.

There’s a wide selection of classic Battlefield games you can play, in fact, while waiting on the new game to release, but unfortunately not all of them are backwards compatible. They’re still very much worth seeking out, however, if you get the chance.
