Sony Still Not Expected to Reveal PS5 Until 2020

Recently, we have learned a lot about the PlayStation 5. For one thing, we now know that is the console’s official name. For another, a holiday 2020 release window is confirmed. But when will we actually get a look at the full console and its capabilities? According to a recent tweet from a Sony employee, we will need to hold our breaths until next year to see the reveal.

Sony Will Likely Reveal the PS5 in Early 2020

The tweet comes from Sam Parker, a Sony IT specialist. You can view it below:

The text reads, “Cats out of the bag, our next gen console will be unveiled and released next year! So humbled to be a part of WWS and working with amazing individuals.”

This is not quite the same thing as an official announcement from Sony. But there is no real reason to doubt Parker’s words since he works at the company. So, as of right now, we expect that we will get our first glimpse of the PlayStation 5 in 2020. To be more specific, we expect it to be early in the year, as we predicted a couple of months ago.

In fact, if you click through and read our previous article, you’ll see that one potential date for the reveal could be Wednesday, February 12th, 2020. The rumor is that an event on that day will showcase The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima on a PlayStation 5. That would be a pretty amazing introduction to the new console, and we wouldn’t be waiting too long once 2020 rolls around to finally check it out. So let’s hope that it happens.
