Red Dead Online Free Horse: How to Get Your Free Horse

There are all sorts of things that you can spend dozens of hours doing in Red Dead Online like raising stats and hunting animals. However, before you can go around doing those things, you will need a trusty steed companion. In this guide, we are going to show the various ways you can get yourself a Red Dead Online free horse.

Like in the main singleplayer game, there is a Red Dead Online free horse for every player. The game isn’t going to leave you without means of transportation after all. We are going to go over when exactly that happens and, also, the other ways you can get a free horse, too. That’s right, there are more free horses to nab for your collection.

How to Get a Red Dead Online Free Horse

Red Dead Online free horse

First and foremost, you get your first free horse from the game right at the start. After creating your character and breaking out, you get a scrawny little horse that is… pretty useless. It’ll technically get you around but barely. You’ll want to have a better horse as soon as possible. After you complete the tutorial, you will have your first real cooperative online mission.

This mission tasks you with stealing horses from a stable alone or with strangers. Upon completion, the horse that you picked to steal will be given to you. As such, you should choose wisely which of the four you steal. Regardless, this is a better horse than the scrawny one you were given initially.

Even still, for some players, this still isn’t the final Red Dead Online free horse. Head to the stable if you are a PS4 player who owns the Ultimate Edition. Here, you can sell your horse that was given for free. This will allow you to fill the empty stable with either a Thoroughbred or Arabian horse. Both are significantly better but we, personally, recommend the Arabian horse.
