Red Dead Redemption 2 Will Have Over 50 Highly Customizable Weapons

Red Dead Redemption 2’s launch date is approaching fast, making now the perfect time to share some new information. According to developer Rockstar, the highly anticipated sequel will have over 50 different weapons for players to collect and customize.

Red Dead Redemption 2's weapons will be highly customizable.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Weapon Customization

This recent report from GameRant features direct quotes from Rockstar outlining how in-depth the game’s weapon customization will be. As a player uses a particular weapon, its performance will improve, no doubt tying into the game’s cores system. However, those same weapons will also have to be properly maintained, exemplifying the game’s sometimes uncomfortable emphasis on realism:

“There are over 50 unique usable weapons, a massive range of options for customization, and a wide selection of different ammunition types to improve accuracy, range or damage.”

Red Dead Redemption 2’s weapons also have more direct modifications alongside the ammunition and usage-based stat boosts. There will be cosmetic upgrades, such as varnishes and engravings, and performance upgrades like grips and scopes. In fact, Rockstar promises that players can tweak weapons so they look and handle exactly as they want them to:

“With a myriad of customization options ranging from visual upgrades like new metals, woods, varnishes and engravings to performance upgrades like new barrels, grips, sights and scopes, you can design an entirely unique weapon that looks and handles exactly the way you want it to. Every weapon’s performance varies in terms of damage, range, fire rate, accuracy and reload speed so it’s important to pick wisely depending on the situation.

Red Dead Redemption 2 arrives in about a week on October 26. The game will be available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Along with its robust single-player campaign, Red Dead Redemption 2 also includes an online component. However, the aptly named Red Dead Redemption Online won’t be available at launch. Instead, the online component will arrive a few weeks after since Rockstar wants to test it a bit more.
