Renowned Final Fantasy Composer Nobuo Uematsu Is Taking Time Off Due to Health Issues

Renowned video game composer Nobuo Uematsu has decided to take the rest of the year off from work due to recent health issues. Uematsu, best known for composing majority of the soundtracks for the Final Fantasy series, hasn’t noted when exactly he will return to work but he hopes that it is only for these next few months.

Nobuo Uematsu detailed his temporary leave from work in a blog post recently. The 59-year old composer notes that, due to countless opportunities that he has had in recent years from concerts to composing new works, he is dealing with fatigue. That fatigue has caught up with him and has taken a toll on him both “mentally and physically.”

Nobuo Uematsu makes sure to state that he doesn’t plan on returning to work until he has made a full recovery from the fatigue issues. He concluded the letter addressed to his fans with this:

“I deeply apologize for the burden this decision places upon both my fans and my clients, and hope that you can understand and support the path I have chosen.

I thank you all for your continued support and only ask that you are patient until I’m on my feet once again!”

Nobuo Uematsu started working for Squaresoft back in 1986 where he stayed until 2004 before founding his own production studio. Since then, he has still freelanced for Square Enix and other video game companies, composing classic soundtracks like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI.
