Resident Evil 2: Capcom Provides Some Truly Bonkers Stats for Game’s First Week

The Resident Evil 2 remake had a pretty good launch, and at this point that’s more than just conjecture. Capcom has updated the remake’s RE.Net web page with an impressive collection of statistics pulled from its launch week period. There’s the usual stuff like players’ favorite weapons and total death ratios, but that’s just the start. Page through the entire stats page and you’ll find some true gems that highlight Capcom’s more quirky side.

Resident Evil 2 Stats Breakdown

Right off the bat, the Resident Evil 2 stats page reveals some interesting elements about the remake’s worldwide player community. For example, rookie cop Leon Kennedy has proven to be a far more popular choice than his counterpart Claire Redfield. For their first playthrough, an impressive 79 percent of players chose Leon over Claire. Not only that, but roughly 3.4 million players have taken Leon for a spin. That’s compared to the 2.2 million who have ridden into Raccoon City as Claire.

Further down the page, the stats strike a solid balance between generalized and niche categories. Handguns are the most popular weapon group, just barely beating out the chemical flamethrower (seems players like their zombies crispy). In just two days players had also killed enough zombies to match the entire population of the United Kingdom.

Some of the RE.Net page’s stats are truly bizarre. One stat measures how much weight Police Chief Irons has lost from all the time spent chasing Sherry Birkin. Another stat shows how much weight the mutant alligator has *gained* from all the unfortunate Leons it has eaten. As of this writing the mutant alligator apparently weighs over twice as much as the Titanic. There’s even a stat which shows how much distance players have traveled running from Mr. X.

The full stats page is worth a look-through if you’re at all curious, or if you just want a few chuckles.
