Resident Evil 2: How to Unlock the Treasure Hunter Achievement/Trophy

Unlocking Resident Evil 2’s ‘Treasure Hunter’ achievement/trophy isn’t a complex process. However, the specific nature of the steps you need to follow means it’s a surprisingly easy achievement/trophy to miss. In this guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to do to unlock Treasure Hunter for yourself.

Resident Evil 2 Treasure Hunter Walkthrough

You can’t unlock Treasure Hunter until after you’ve reached the sewers area. Once you’re in the sewers, keep playing until you find the T-bar Valve Handle item. Use the T-Bar to open the passageway to the workroom lift on the lowest floor. Take the lift up to the upper workroom and you’ll find a film roll on a table. Examining the film roll reveals it as ‘Hiding Place Film.’

To develop the film you’ll naturally need to find your way back up to the police station. To do so, head over to the sewers break room (near the bridge controlled by the chess piece plug). If you examine the large steel bookcase, you’ll reveal a hidden elevator. The elevator takes you back up to the police station’s underground passage. Use the T-Bar again to re-open the statue medallion secret passage leading into the station’s main hall.

Head over to the dark room to develop the Hiding Spot film. Doing so reveals two specific hiding spots, one in the first floor press room and another in the S.T.A.R.S offices. You can find the press room hiding spot by searching the table underneath the boom box. If you’re playing as Claire you’ll find some Needle Cartridge ammo for your Spark Shot. Leon, in turn, finds some fuel for his Chemical Flamethrower.

For the second hiding spot, search Wesker’s desk in the S.T.A.R.S offices on the second floor. Leon finds a Red Dot Sight upgrade for his Lightning Hawk magnum. Claire finds an Extended Magazine for her MQ 11 SMG. Finding both hiding spots also unlocks the Treasure Hunter achievement/trophy.
