Ah, Dino Crisis, now there’s a name we bet you haven’t heard in a while. Back in its heyday, Dino Crisis was another horror-themed Capcom property which stood alongside Resident Evil. Of course, as its name implies, Dino Crisis swapped out zombies and lickers for raptors and gargantuan T-rexes. If you’re feeling some Dino Crisis nostalgia pangs, a new Resident Evil 2 remake mod can help tide you over.
Resident Evil 2 Dino Crisis Fan Mod
The Resident Evil 2 remake Dino Crisis mod comes courtesy of YouTuber and modder Crazy Potato. Over on their YouTube Channel, Crazy Potato showed off some gameplay with the mod in effect. The mod basically replaces certain visual assets for protagonist Claire Redfield with new custom assets. These assets in turn enable a sort of “re-skin” which dresses Claire up as Dino Crisis protagonist Regina.
Judging from the below footage, the reskin looks pretty convincing. It’s obviously still Claire’s face and voice, but the rest of the getup accurately recreates Regina’s iconic getup. There’s the long fingerless gloves, the skintight body suit, and of course the cropped red hair. Our guess is that the red hair is a color-swapped version of Ada Wong’s hair, a clever trick for sure. Overall, though, the outfit could easily pass for an official DLC inclusion from Capcom.
As of this writing, the Regina mod is sadly not available for public download. However, Crazy Potato says they’re working on a downloadable version and that it should hopefully be ready soon. In the meantime, feast your eyes on Claire/Regina kicking butt:
The Regina reskin is far from the only fan-made mod that’s available for the Resident Evil 2 remake. If you’re looking for something a little goofier, this Mr. X-meets-DMX mod should do the trick. Fans also recently discovered a hidden Chris Redfield model in the remake’s files and figured out how to activate it.
