GTA: San Andreas, Table Tennis, More on Xbox One Backwards Compatibility

Rockstar Games have brought their classic titles such as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Midnight Club: Los Angeles and Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis to Xbox One via the Backwards Compatibility program. You can either purchase them now on the Microsoft Store digitally to play instantly, or pop out your Xbox 360 physical copy and shove it into your Xbox One’s disk drive. All three of these titles will still have the achievements for you to unlock.

Both the Xbox Original and Xbox 360 versions of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas are able to be put into your Xbox One, and if you have the Xbox 360 version you’ll be able to transfer your save files over to your Xbox One to play there. Rockstar INTEL reports that Midnight Club: Los Angeles’ original and complete editions will be available to play through backwards compatibility, so the added vehicles, music and races from the complete edition will be accessible for you if you own that.

These titles will be joining the likes of Red Dead Redemption, Bully, and Grand Theft Auto IV for the Xbox One backwards compatibility shelf. It’s also good to point out that San Andreas, Table Tennis, and Midnight Club LA are all on sale for Xbox Live Gold members until June 12, 2018. However, for none Xbox Live Gold members, you’ll have to pay the recommended retail price of $15 USD. Gold members also have access to a Red Dead Redemption sale for 67% off – so you can prepare for the release of Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 this October, which is available for pre-order now.

Bully, San Andreas, Vice City, Manhunt and more are already on the PlayStation 4 as ported classics, but some Xbox One gamers have reported that their backwards compatibility copies are running in 4K – whether this is true or not, we have yet to verify. It’s possible the games are just upscaled into a 4K resolution, but it’s possible it could be the opposite – the original Red Dead Redemption runs on Xbox One in native 4K due to Microsoft’s new technique of updating the textures in old games without the need of the developer going into past game files.

All three titles are now available for Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
