Rumor: Amazon PS5 Pre-Orders May Arrive Late

If you managed to snag a PS5 pre-order through Amazon or any other site, you were exceedingly lucky. The pre-orders sold out almost instantly. We’ve been checking periodically over the past few days, and have yet to spot an opportunity to pre-order again. Everything still says “out of stock” everywhere. But here’s the thing—even if you pre-ordered, you might not get it on time. Amazon has announced that PS5 pre-orders may arrive late.

Amazon Sent Out Emails Stating that PS5 Pre-Orders May Arrive Late

The company has been emailing people who pre-ordered the PS5 to inform them of the possibility of a late arrival. Here is the email that some users have reported receiving.

“Hello, we’re contacting you about your order of PlayStation 5 Console (BO8FC5L3RG) to let you know in advance that you may not receive this item on the day it is released due to high demand,” said Amazon’s customer service. “We’ll make every effort to get the item to you as soon as possible once released. You can track the latest shipment status of your order under Your Orders on Amazon.com. Once there, you can make changes to unshipped orders, cancel unshipped items, track shipped packages, and much more.”

PS5 Pre-Orders Finally Available 2

November 12th is the release date for both the full version of the PS5 (available for $499.99) and the digital-only version (available for $399.99). Pre-ordering probably gives you your best shot at playing on your new console on November 12th, but are any of us surprised that there are no guarantees? Not really.

A much bigger question is how long those of us who do not manage to pre-order the console will have to wait for a chance to finally get our hands on it. A clearer portrait of demand and supply should emerge over the weeks ahead. Follow our PlayStation news for more updates. And, a word of advice—don’t rely solely on notifications for pre-orders. Check on your own frequently!
