One of the first side quests you’ll get in Fallout 76 is the Overseer’s Mission; a quest to follow in the footsteps of the Overseer of Vault 76, who has left caches and holotapes behind for you. In addition to those, the Overseer has also left a number of journal entries, but finding these is part of a separate quest; the Fallout 76 Personal Matters side quest. If you want to follow the entirety of the Overseer’s story, you’ll need to complete this side quest as well. While the Overseer’s Mission holotape gives you a lot of the story, the journals in Personal Matters delve into the Overseer’s character and her life before the Great War.
How to Complete the Fallout 76 Personal Matters Side Quest
To begin the Fallout 76 Personal Matters side quest, you need to find the Overseer’s first journal entry. This can be found in the Vault-Tec Agricultural Centre. Just like the Overseer Caches in the Overseer’s Mission, you’ll get an objective marker when you come into the vicinity of one of the journal entries. This means that the entries aren’t too difficult to find once you arrive in the correct location. Once you find the first entry, the remaining five can be found in any order. They can be found in the following locations.
- At the Overseer’s childhood home in Sutton.
- In Morgantown High School.
- Inside the Vault-Tec University’s East Campus Building.
- In the ruins of Welch.
- In one of the garages at the workshop base at Mount Blair.
Once you have found and listened to all six journal entries, you will need to find Evan to complete the quest. Completing Personal Matters doesn’t confer any major rewards, just random ammo and aid items. Nonetheless, it will wrap up the Overseer’s story in conjunction with the holotapes found in the Overseer’s Mission.
