Sony discussed the matter of the release schedule for PS5 in its quarterly financial statements. Sony said, “Regarding the launch of PlayStation 5, although factors such as constraints due to employees working from home and restrictions on international travel remain, necessary measures are being taken and preparations are underway with the launch of the console scheduled for the 2020 holiday season. At this time, no major problems have arisen in the game software development pipeline for Sony’s own first-party studios or its partners’ studios.”
So, that is awesome news! COVID-19 and its economic fallout are creating a lot of stress for people around the world. Being able to enjoy the PS5 may help to at least provide a welcome distraction. Just keep in mind that supplies will likely be limited even with Sony boosting production to meet the high demand. So, you should make a pre-order right away when you can.
