Sony Discusses What’s Next for PS Plus

With the PS5 coming out tomorrow, you probably have a lot of questions about what is ahead. Sony has answered a lot of those questions in a recent blog post. In that post, the company offered some clarification on PlayStation Plus, specifically what’s next for PS Plus members now that the next generation consoles are here. Let’s check out what Sony had to say.

What’s Next for PS Plus?

Sony posted an Ultimate FAQ for PlayStation 5. In the post, Sony writes, “All PlayStation Plus members will continue to receive at least two great PS4 games each month. It is our goal to add PS5 games regularly to the monthly games lineup, so check back with us at PS Blog for our monthly PlayStation Plus announcements.”

The phrase “regularly” is pretty non-specific. That implies that Sony may not be sure yet of the timing for the PS5 free games. The first free PS5 game through PlayStation Plus is Bugsnax. That game will be free until January. That could be a hint as to the cycle length for PS5 free games. Maybe each will last two months or so. But that could just be because it is the first game. Maybe subsequent games will just stick around for a month like the PS4 games do.

The company also provided info about the PlayStation Plus Collection. Sony explains, “PlayStation Plus members who are PS5 owners will be able to redeem and play a curated library of PS4 games that defined the generation, like Batman: Arkham Knight, Bloodborne, Fallout 4, God of War, Monster Hunter: World, Persona 5 and many more. The PlayStation Plus Collection will be available on November 12 when PS5 launches in the U.S., Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea, and November 19 when PS5 launches throughout the rest of the world, including Europe, Middle East, South America, Asia and South Africa. The number and availability of titles in The PlayStation Plus Collection may vary by country, and The PlayStation Plus Collection is not available in China.”
