SoulCalibur 6 Will Have One Extra Singleplayer Mode In Addition to a Story Mode

As if you didn’t need more information from the latest issue of Famitsu, here’s the latest news about SoulCalibur 6. The popular Japanese gaming magazine already dropped tons of information about Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake today. Now, it’s time to dive deep into the latest entry in the beloved Japanese fighting game series. Producer Motohiro Okubo teased some new information about the game’s singleplayer that is sure to excite some fans.

The E3 2018 trailer that released last week gave us a quick glimpse at the story mode called Soul Chronicle. Okubo revealed more in the interview with Famitsu, giving us some concrete details about what it will be. The Soul Chronicle story mode inĀ SoulCalibur 6 will act as an origin story for the entire series. The story mode will have various episodes that players can enjoy.

SoulCalibur 6 Story Mode

Soul Chronicle will showcase conversations between characters as well as traditional 2D and 3D cutscenes. Among those cutscenes, there will be the occasional battle. Each playable character will have their own take on the story, making it a pretty hefty singleplayer story mode on its own. The timeline for the story mode takes place between 1583 and 1590. However, it seems Soul Chronicle won’t be the only singleplayer mode for players to enjoy.

SoulCalibur 6 Producer Motohiro Okubo finished the interview with Famitsu with a nice tease for fans. He stated that “there’s one more singleplayer mode we’re working on, but I can’t say anything about it for now.” That cryptic tease certainly makes it seem like it will be a substantial singleplayer mode, not just your typical Arcade or something like that.

This is great news regardless for SoulCalibur 6 fans as we now know that there will be a breadth of singleplayer content at launch for the game, in addition to your expected online components. SoulCalibur 6 launches on PC, PS4, and Xbox One later this year on October 19th, 2018.
