Star Wars Battlefront 2: Count Dooku, Triple XP, and More Coming Throughout January

Star Wars Battlefront 2 developer DICE has announced a number of exciting January additions for the game. Players can look forward to triple XP, the arrival of Count Dooku, and more throughout the first month of 2019.

The full schedule of January additions is now available on the official Battlefront forums. DICE just concluded a triple XP event for playable heroes and villains but there are more events on the way. Then, later in the month, Count Dooku (a.k.a Darth Tyranus) arrives to bolster the villain side of the hero roster. Lastly, a limited-time battle point event reduces the battle point cost for prequel-era heroes and villains.

Here’s a full breakdown of what’s coming to Star Wars Battlefront 2 in January:

  • Trooper triple XP event (January11-13) – All trooper classes earn triple XP from Blast and Strike matches.
  • Starfighter triple XP event (January 18-20) – All Starfighters earn triple XP in Starfighter Assault and Hero Starfighters.
  • Darth Tyranus update (January 23) – Count Dooku joins the hero roster with both default and “Dark Ritual” appearance options. Clone Troopers can also unlock and utilize a new “Coruscant Guard” appearance.
  • Prequel era battle point event (January 25-27) – All heroes in prequel era Galactic Assault maps have their battle point cost reduced by half. Players also can’t use non-era appropriate heroes.

Count Dooku’s Dark Ritual appearance will likely reference his role in the animated Clone Wars cartoon series. Images for the Dark Ritual and Coruscant Guard appearances aren’t yet available but DICE says they should be revealed soon.

Dooku’s arrival falls in line with DICE’s previously revealed winter roadmap for Battlefront 2. The winter roadmap is heavily focused on the prequel era of Star Wars films. Previous hero additions include young Obi-Wan Kenobi and General Grievous, and fans still have Anakin Skywalker to look forward to. Lastly, DICE’s winter plans include an as-yet-revealed capture point-based game mode.

If you’re an EA Access subscriber, you can now play Star Wars Battlefront 2 for free. Now’s as good a time as ever to give the game a try with all the prequel era content.
