Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order: Check Out The E3 Gameplay Video

During its annual pre-E3 EA Play press event, Electronic Arts teased upcoming content additions for several of its games. However, the entire EA Play 2019 event kicked off with new footage of Respawn’s upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Specifically, Respawn unveiled the first ever gameplay demo for Fallen order, showing off the game’s exploration, combat, and more.

The 14-minute video (which you can watch below) focuses on a mid-game rescue mission. Protagonist Cal Kestis has landed on the Wookie homeworld of Kashyyyk and is quickly caught up in a local conflict. A group of freedom fighters (led by returning character Saw Gerrera) are trying to save the Wookies from the Empire. Cal decides to lend a hand, putting his burgeoning Jedi skills to good use as he traverses the planet.

Thanks to his mastery of the force, Cal can navigate his environment with acrobatic ease. He can sprint, clamber, double-jump, and even wall-run to reach distant vantage points and progress through each level. When he finally confronts the Empire, Cal’s lightsaber mastery is on full display. Respawn has crafted a fluid and highly engaging melee combat system which looks solid but doesn’t feel overly flashy. The end of the demo even teases some crazy boss fights that players must face later in Cal’s journey.

After the demo, members of Respawn’s team elaborated a bit on what viewers saw. Fallen Order will utilize a skill points system which allows players to determine which powers they unlock. Cal can use techniques like saber throw, force push, force pull, force jump, and even a time-slowing force slow ability. Cal’s helpful droid, BD-1, will also perform helpful functions like hacking doors and healing Cal in-between combat encounters.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is scheduled to launch later this year on November 15. The single-player story-driven game will be available on both PC and consoles. You can pre-order the game here.
