Gamers can expect a new adventure game to come to next-gen consoles and PC in 2022. Steelrising, a role-playing action game (RPG), will be sure to delight fans of GreedFall and The Technomancer, two other games released by Spiders. The new game allows players to take on the role of Aegis, a robot sworn to protect Queen Marie Antoinette.
Let’s dive right into the ins and outs of Steelrising gameplay and some of the features you can expect to see next summer upon the game’s delivery.
The Setting of Steelrising
The gameplay of Steelrising takes place in the streets of Paris during the throes of the French Revolution. Aegis is the only thing standing between the dictator Louis XVI and the helpless Parisians fighting for their lives.
Louis XVI has enlisted the help of a robotic army to support his reign of terror, and it’s the player’s job to fight their way through different levels to meet Aegis’ maker and put a stop to the chaos. In the past, Spiders’ games relied heavily on roleplay and fighting, and Steelrising will be no exception.
Aegis: The Main Character
It’s important to note that Aegis wasn’t initially created to fight, but was instead designed to be a dancer. However, Aegis can fight and uses her grace and speed to maneuver her way through the toughest of enemies and reign supreme.
Her agility and verticality will help her reach Louis XVI and end his rule. Because she is an android, Aegis’s built-in combat skills will improve the more the game is played, so users will never get tired of the same old fight each time they pass a level.
With exceptional visuals and graphics, Steelrising gameplay will feature fast-paced combat and adventuring through some of the most famous areas and landmarks of Paris. Aegis can climb vertically and enter secret passageways to explore new locations and find different weapons to use in her fights.
As players progress through the levels, more weapons become available, each having different strengths and weaknesses that can be used in combat against enemies. Some weapons are best for up-close fights, while others are more beneficial for long-range attacks.
One unique feature of the game is that this version of Paris has monuments that are no longer there in real life, meaning history buffs will appreciate the care and thoughtfulness developers used to produce the game.
In addition, side quests help enhance the world Aegis lives in, making the game’s visual effects that much more exciting and entertaining. Combining technology with the French Revolution era, the unique twist on history is sure to please the avid gamer.
Because Spiders’ games have received positive reviews in the past, it’ll certainly be a test to see if Steelrising is considered as good as some of its counterparts.
The release date for Steelrising is currently slated for June 2022. The game is currently in development and will be released on next-gen consoles like the Playstation 5, Xbox X/S, and PC.
