The Super Smash Bros Ultimate Piranha Plant release date is now available. Well, release month to be exact. We now know that the first DLC fighter to come after launch will be releasing shortly. Players can look forward to checking out Piranha Plant when it releases in February 2019. That’s only next month if you happen to be keeping a check on the calendar.
Of course, this isn’t super surprising since the DLC character was announced before the game even launched. News of the Super Smash Bros Ultimate Piranha Plant release month comes via the Nintendo News section on Switch. It says that the first DLC fighter will hop into battle “around February” so the wait isn’t too bad. Of course, we’re not sure when in February it will be.

We expect the release date to be announced during the presumably upcoming Nintendo Direct to kick off the year. There has been an early Nintendo Direct almost every year for a while now so that seems like a good place. It may also be where we get the release month for Joker from Persona 5 or the second DLC character announcement.
Regardless, the Super Smash Bros Ultimate Piranha Plant release date is very close. As such, we recommend you claim your Gold Points for the title now. The promotion to get Piranha Plant for free ends January 31. If you bought digital, you’re good to go. If you bought physical, go to the game’s menu from the home screen like you’re deleting it and redeem your points.
You will get an email to your account’s email a few days later. If you have a Gmail account, note that the email will probably show up in your promotions. Also, the email is weirdly titled so it’s easy to ignore. There will be a code to redeem for the fighter.
