The Bard’s Tale Trilogy Remaster Release Date Announced for PC

inXile Entertainment released a double helping of information for fans today, with the official reveal of The Bard’s Tale Trilogy for PC in addition to its release date. This trilogy is a remaster of the first three games in the series that will be seeing a fourth entry later this year. The remastered trilogy will be releasing on PC very shortly on August 14, 2018.

The Bard’s Tale Trilogy encompasses the first three games in the series, remastered with updated visuals and optional quality-of-life improvements. Though you will be able to purchase the entire trilogy on August 14, you won’t actually be getting all three games immediately. Only the first game in the remastered collection, Tales of the Unknown, will be available at launch.

The second installment, The Destiny Knight remastered, will be arriving sometime this fall while the final game, Thief of Fate, will release this winter. Players will have to wait just a little bit before they can enjoy all three games remastered for the first time ever.

inXile Entertainment is releasing The Bard’s Tale Trilogy as a chance for players to see the history of the series that defined the RPG genre ahead of its newest game, The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep, which is also set to release later this year on PC. The remastered trilogy was a massive undertaking for the developer as no original source code was available for any of the titles.

However, the work is almost done and players will soon be able to enjoy The Bard’s Tale Trilogy completely remastered. Players will be able to create their own party of male and female characters that can be transferred and used through all three titles. If you prefer the nostalgic feel of the original 1980’s trilogy, there will be a legacy mode released in the future. While we wait for the trilogy to release on August 14 for $14.99, check out other RPG’s like Mass Effect and Dragon Age 4.
