Tokyo Ghoul:re Call to Exist Will Have 8 Player Online Multiplayer

While we still don’t have a clear-cut look at how the game will work, Bandai Namco has released some new information about Tokyo Ghoul:re Call to Exist. The biggest announcement is that the game will feature online multiplayer in the form of eight-player fights. Whether or not there will be four on four team matches or a free-for-all is still up in the air.

This Tokyo Ghoul:re Call to Exist news comes via the latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu (through Siliconera). However, we do know that there will be some general versus and team battles, but specifics weren’t given. As for the entire game, it will support one to eight players so offline players can be happy to know they can play alone if they want.

Tokyo Ghoul:re Call to Exist

Tokyo Ghoul:re Call to Exist is meant to be a PS4 “survival action game” so only time will tell what the survival aspect means. That element wasn’t detailed in the recent issue of Famitsu. Other than the online multiplayer, only one other detail was given by Bandai Namco.  We now know that, despite being focused on season three of the popular anime series, it will include characters from the second season as well.

Tokyo Ghoul:re Call to Exist is based on the popular, mature manga and anime series that has spanned two main manga series and three TV anime seasons. Characters from the first and most recent third seasons were featured in the first trailer for the game, and we now know characters from the Root A season will also appear.

This is a rather odd detail, as fans of the show will know that there weren’t really any characters exclusive to the second season, as most appeared again in the third or were introduced in the first. It will be interesting to see who Bandai Namco is referring to in the future. Tokyo Ghoul:re Call to Exist will release on PS4 in Japan this Winter with a currently unknown release date for the rest of the world.
