Total War: Three Kingdoms Eight Princes DLC, a New Patch, and Dynasty Mode

Of course, the biggest new release is that of Total War: Three Kingdoms Eight Princes. Following the release of the Yellow Turbans and Blood Pack DLCs, this is the first full-size content pack. It’s also the first ‘Chapter Pack,’ a term defined by Creative Assembly shortly after the game’s release. Chapter Packs focus on a particular period of the Three Kingdoms era and present that in its own dedicated campaign. For the first pack, Creative Assembly chose the War of the Eight Princes, which takes place almost exactly one hundred years after the start of the base game.

All of the namesake eight princes are playable as faction leaders in the DLC, with characters like Sima Ying, Sima Liang, and Sima Yue. Indeed, they all have new and unique play-styles which present different opportunities to the characters in the base game. Supporting that is the addition of new gameplay mechanics, like the Alignment system. Alongside Eight Princes, Creative Assembly also launched Patch 1.2.0. This brings a lot of tweaks and fixes to the game, and also adds some of the Eight Princes content to the game for free. Specifically, 17 new armour variations for generic generals and 4 new cavalry units will be available for free, whether or not you bought the DLC. Additionally, Creative Assembly launched Dynasty Mode alongside Eight Princes. This is the first ‘Free-LC’ release for the game. It adds an entirely new arcade-style horde mode, which features up to 3-player co-op. In this mode, three heroes with greatly increases stats face off against vast waves of enemy units and heroes.
