Ubisoft Is Teasing A New Ghost Recon Game Via A Fictional Tech Convention

Ubisoft has a lot of well-known gaming properties under its purview, including several Tom Clancy-based properties. Recently, a combination of in-game and real-life teasers have led fans to surmise that a new game reveal is incoming. What exactly this new game is part of isn’t yet known, but odds are it’ll be a Tom Clancy title.

Ubisoft Ghost Recon And SkellCon Teasers

Ghost Recon new game teaser

It all began late last year when Ubisoft fans discovered a real working website for a company called Skell Technology. Skell Technology is a (fictional) cutting edge tech company which has been referenced in several Ubisoft Tom Clancy games. References to Skell originally appeared in Rainbow Six Siege, but they’re not the only ones. More recently, Skell was directly mentioned in the new Ghost Recon Wildlands Operation Oracle mission.

Around the same time as the Ghost Recon mission’s release, a new page went live on the Skell website. The page advertises “SkellCon,” a convention set to begin in just a few days on May 9. No further details about what SkellCon is are provided on the page. However, something interesting happens if the user clicks on the ‘Employee Portal’ button and navigates back to the home page. Namely, the ‘SkellCon’ icon turns into a stock ‘Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon’ icon.

More Clues

Ghost Recon fans have already been speculating that Operation Oracle was merely a teaser for something much larger. After all, it’d be strange to hire the likes of Punisher actor Jon Bernthal for what’s basically a one-off side-mission. The current theory is that Ubisoft will unveil a proper sequel to Wildlands on May 9. The timing for such a reveal would make sense considering how close we are to this year’s E3 convention.

Even if it’s not a direct Wildlands sequel, the upcoming reveal will likely be a new Ghost Recon game. Some fans are hoping it will be a new Assassin’s Creed or Watch Dogs title, but that doesn’t seem likely. The SkellCon page’s clear use of the Ghost Recon logo is a hard piece of evidence to ignore. Either way, we’ll find out what (if anything) Ubisoft is teasing in roughly 48 hours.

Update: Ubisoft confirmed via Twitter that it is indeed revealing a new Ghost Recon game on May 9. The new game’s world reveal trailer will arrive at 11:30 a.m. PST (2:30 p.m. EST).
