Upcoming Call of Duty 2020 Alpha Leaks on the Microsoft Store

While Activision has at least confirmed that a new Call of Duty title is due to release later this year, the company has yet to actually officially announce this mysterious game. However, over the course of the last few months, plenty of details have emerged about it from a series of leaks. Now, the game’s upcoming alpha itself has seemingly leaked on the Microsoft Store, hinting that it could finally be announced very soon.

Call of Duty 2020 Alpha “The Red Door” Leaks

Just as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was a “soft reboot” of sorts for the Modern Warfare franchise, the upcoming Call of Duty 2020 title is expected to be something similar for Black Ops. More specifically, the game appears to be taking Black Ops back to its Cold War roots. Indeed, the game’s title is expected to be Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, or something similar. This latest leak, however, is considerably more reliable, since it came from the Microsoft Store itself.

Call of Duty 2020 Alpha Leaks on Microsoft Store 2

A store listing recently became visible – although it has since been removed from public view again – for an upcoming closed alpha. The alpha is entitled “The Red Door,” which appears to be a codename used by Activision. “There is more than one truth,” reads the game’s description; “If you go looking for answers, be ready to question everything and accept that nothing will ever be the same. The Red Door awaits, do you dare step through it?”

The Red Door alpha wasn’t available to download or purchase while the page was visible. Rather, the only way to access it on the store page was by redeeming a code. (Suggesting that it will begin as a closed alpha.) Most likely, the page was accidentally made visible too early. However, if the page is ready to go, Activision may be getting very close to announcing the game. The last Call of Duty game, Call of Duty: Warzone, was announced and released on the same day; the same could very well happen for this upcoming alpha. Interestingly, (or perhaps concerningly), the store page appeared to list the alpha’s file size as 81.65 GB. If this is accurate, it could be an indication that the full game will be extremely large.
