Upcoming Destiny 2 Patch Will Make it Much Easier to Reach 600 Power

When Destiny 2’s Black Armory expansion launched earlier this month, players bemoaned its high power level requirements. The bulk of the expansion’s contents were completely inaccessible to sub-600 power Guardians, leaving many in the lurch. Bungie was quick to make a few changes, but players still weren’t happy about the pre-expansion grind.

Fortunately, that grind is about to get a whole lot easier. An upcoming Destiny 2 game update will expedite the process of reaching 600 power by boosting all Director Challenge rewards.

Destiny 2 Director Challenge Power Boosts

Bungie confirmed the upcoming change in its most recent This Week at Bungie blog post. Specifically, the change boosts the power of rewards from all Director Challenges for sub-600 Guardians. This means that milestones attached to activities like Gambit, Strikes, and Crucible will be much more lucrative for lower-power players. The change also builds off an earlier tweak in which Bungie boosted the power of Prime Engram drops.

The upcoming Director Challenge boost is included in Destiny 2’s 2.1.3 update which will go live next Tuesday, December 18. Here’s a full list of issues the 2.1.3 update will correct:

  • Players under 600 Power will begin to receive higher-powered rewards when completing Director Challenges
    • This change is being made to build upon changes in Update 2.1.2, where we increased Power rewards from Prime Engrams.
  • Fixed an issue where players did not receive the Harbinger’s Echo Sparrow when destroying all Ahamkara Eggs in the Dreaming City
  • Corrected an issue where players who joined an in-progress forge activity would not receive rewards
  • Fixed an issue where weapon frames would be removed from inventory when completing a different forge
  • We have a fix planned in 2.1.3 to address issues affecting damage from 1000 Voices on PC
    • Right now there is an issue where the weapon is doing more damage than intended at higher frame rates on PC. After Update 2.1.3, functionality will match between all platforms
  • Fixed an issue where Season 5 shaders dismantled slowly
  • Corrected an issue where players who did not earn the Crucible Solemnity shader could not complete the Crucible Badge
  • Fixed an issue where players could not retrieve clan XP rewards from Hawthorne under certain circumstances

The 2.1.3 update also adds in the previously detailed Veterans of the Hunt in-game item bundle. Bungie says the bundle should show up in eligible players’ inventories later in the day.
