How Weapons Will Work in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies

While the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies mode should feel very familiar to veteran Zombies players, the mode does feature some big changes when it comes to how weapons work. Not only will players be able to bring their own weapons into the mode, but also, players will be able to craft their own support equipment in-game.

The New Black Ops Zombies Weapon Mechanics

In addition to being the first Call of Duty Zombies mode to feature cross-play, the Black Ops Cold War Zombies mode will also have some new weapon mechanics. The classic Pack-a-Punch will of course be making a return, but weapons will also now have rarity. The higher this rarity mechanic, the better the weapon’s damage and attachments. Treyarch aims for this mechanic to ensure that any weapon can be viable at any round.

In addition, players will be able to load into a Zombies match with their own loadout, complete with weapons. Importantly, this will allow players to bring Gunsmith-crafted weapons into Zombies, as well as Field Upgrades. However, that’s only one way which players will be able to get new gear in Zombies. Another way is the new crafting system. All around the map, players will be able to both find and craft support equipment. These will range from simple Frag Grenades to Sentry Turrets and Explosive Bows. They will be similar to the support equipment available in Multiplayer, although there may be differences here and there.

Finally, Perks will also be making a return to Black Ops Cold War Zombies, albeit with a new Cold War -style design. Juggernog and Speed Cola are both confirmed to be making a return. In addition, there will also no longer be a limit to the number of perks you can have at any one time.
