What to Expect From the Upcoming Fortnite Patch v7.40 Update

You are likely aware that Fortnite Patch v7.40 came out on Thursday, February 14th.  With the patch, we got plenty of fresh content, most notably Overtime challenges and the Infantry Rifle. Balancing improvements also have led to enhancements to gameplay overall. Apparently another update is slated to release at some point during the week. Since we don’t know it’s name, we assume it is likely a Patch v7.40 update with additional balancing changes and new content.

We can make some predictions as to what to expect with the forthcoming update based on the changes brought by Patch v7.40. Here is what may be ahead.

Items

It is possible that one or more new items will arrive with the Fortnite Patch v7.40 update. But if there is one item we can feel pretty confident about, it is the Driftboard. Gamers have been waiting a long time for this vehicle.

In fact, we’ve been hearing about the Driftboard since December 17th of last year. But we still haven’t had a chance to try it. Thankfully, it has finally appeared on the in-game News screen with the caption “Coming Soon.”

Items which are advertised on the News screen with that caption typically show up pretty fast. The timing would be perfect for it to come with the next update.

It looks like a Fortnite Patch v7.40 update is bringing a lot of changes.

Map Changes

This season looks like it’s going to be a dramatic one for map changes. Earthquakes have been taking place since February 16th. These quakes have resulted in a number of cracks in the landscape. What will happen next? We have no idea. But the next update could push this event further along, bringing new developments.

Overtime Challenges

Right now, there are eight Overtime challenges you can participate in. Whether associated with the next update or not, we know for a fact that additional Overtime challenges are coming. The next four are scheduled for February 19th, while four more are scheduled for February 22nd.

Added together, that will be a total of 16 Overtime challenges. If you are successful with 13 of these challenges, you can enjoy a free Battle Pass for Fortnite Season 8.

Balancing

What balancing changes can we expect with the next update? It is anyone’s guess at this point. But one thing we can say confidently is that there should be some tweaks in this area.

So keep an eye out for the update and don’t forget to participate in those Overtime challenges so you can snag a free Fortnite Season 8 Battle Pass. And in the meantime, don’t miss out on any of the latest Fortnite news and rumors here on VGR.
