The Witcher Netflix Series Release Date May Have Been Leaked

The upcoming Witcher Netflix series got its first trailer release all the way back in July, and since then, news about it has been relatively scarce. Although the series is theoretically coming this year, no official release date has been confirmed. However, a recent leak from a branch of Netflix itself may have accidentally revealed that information early. If true, the show may be set to launch in mid-December.

The Upcoming Witcher Netflix Series Release Date

The Witcher Netflix series has been in development for over a year after it was first announced back in early 2018. Now, closer to launch, details of most of the casting decisions, for instance, are now public knowledge. Indeed, the first trailer for the show gave fans a glimpse of that cast for the first time. However, Netflix has refrained from confirming a release date.

Witcher Netflix Series Release Date Leaked

Despite their reticence, however, that very information may have slipped out accidentally from a recent tweet posted by Netflix’s social media account in the Netherlands. This tweet was quickly deleted, but it was spotted by fan site Redanian Intelligence, who took a screenshot. The tweet read; “The wait is almost over, * so many * nights sleep for these titles,” before listing ten different upcoming series. One of these was The Witcher, along with the number “97”; the number of nights until the launch. If accurate, this would mean that the show is due to launch on the 18th of December.

Netflix has previously confirmed that The Witcher would come sometime in late 2019, so the date does make sense. Of course, it’s always possible that the tweet was deleted for another reason, like that the information was incorrect. As such, it’s worth taking it with a pinch of salt. However, given that the tweet was made by Netflix itself, it does have more veracity than a leak from another source would have.
