WWE 2K Battlegrounds: How to Unlock Arenas in the Game

The new WWE 2K Battlegrounds brings a different style of professional wrestling game complete with zany arcade fighting and unique weapons. The matches also take place in some interesting venues, ranging from ordinary style arenas to outdoor settings featuring animals. The arenas are what are referred to as the Battlegrounds. In this guide, we’ll show what WWE 2K Battlegrounds are available and how to unlock them.

What are the WWE 2K Battlegrounds?

Upon the WWE 2K Battlegrounds game’s release date, there are eight different environments in the game. These each include a different look and feel along with interactive aspects. For example, there may be the ability to jump from a helicopter, throw opponents into an alligator’s jaws, or use a goat to attack a competitor.

List of WWE 2K Battlegrounds arenas:

  • Boot Camp (Military theme)
  • Detroit (Auto Shop)
  • Everglades (Swamp)
  • Mexico
  • New York Pit
  • Raw
  • Scotland
  • WrestleMania

You can change which Battlegrounds arena you want to use in your Exhibition matches. Click on Triangle button (PS4) or Y button (Xbox One) from the screen where you are choosing the superstars for your match.

This will bring up a Match Configuration screen where you can choose “Battlegrounds.” At the game’s launch, only the New York arena is unlocked, or you can choose “Random Battleground.” Below we’ll show how to unlock the other arenas.

How to unlock new arenas in the game

The WWE 2K Battlegrounds modes include the Story (campaign) mode where you’ll take a fictional superstar through a set story. It will involve one-on-one matches against a variety of Superstars along the way in different regions. So you’ll move through cities including New York, Florida, and Detroit. There’s also Boot Camp, Scottland, and Mexico.

In each of these regions you will unlock rewards. These include new superstars for the game and items. Each region will have a WWE 2K Battlegrounds arena available as a reward. You’ll basically unlock the arena matching up with that region.

To get to the game’s Story mode, select the “Play” option followed by the “Champion” option from the menu screens. The Story mode will include comic book style story panels to go through before each region, and then individual matches.

Once you’ve defeated a region in Story mode and unlocked that arena, it becomes yours to use in other modes in the game. It’ll take some grinding through all of the Story mode, but eventually, you’ll have all of the arenas available for your use!

By the way, there’s also a Battleground Creator option available on the main menu. This will allow you to go wild and create your own customized arena for in-game use!
