Xbox One Miramar Testing Is Finishing Up Before Map’s Release Next Week

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is now finishing up Xbox One Miramar testing ahead of the map’s release to the Xbox One version of the game next week. Miramar being added to the game will allow players to have somewhere different to play than Erngel, the game’s original map and its most popular.

Miramar is the second map overall that was added to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and takes place in an expansive desert environment, rather than the fairly temperate climate of Erangel or Sanhok, the third map that will be coming to the PC version soon. While it hasn’t been as popular as Erangel on the PC, it might find more popularity on the Xbox One.

The map hasn’t been very popular on the PC for a number of reasons, such as being too big, too bland, too open, having poor traversal, and having more difficult-to-predict engagement differences. These differences all combined to make Miramar one of the more unpopular maps in the game, especially since maps like Erangel and Sanhok both embody the PUBG experience much more.

In a game where you have to constantly be on the lookout for people that might try to snipe you, be ready to duck and cover at any time, and have to constantly watch buildings to make sure there’s nobody inside, all of the qualities that make Miramar into the map that it is seem to kind of negate the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds experience.

Eventually the playerbase’s hatred of Miramar got so bad that there were some players who were altering the game’s files to avoid having to play it, removing every asset of Miramar so that when the game tried to put them there they’d be forced back to the menu due to not being able to find files.

But, if the PUBG’s fanbase on the Xbox One is different, then the Xbox One Miramar testing on that platform might end up being a good thing for that map. There’s no guarantee of it, but Miramar will at least be getting more play on the Xbox One where you can’t alter its files.

So, in short, you only have one more week until the Xbox One Miramar testing is finished, so if you play PUBG on the Xbox One, you’ll be able to play somewhere other than Erangel soon.
