You Can Now Play Halo 3 On PC Through An Xbox 360 Emulator

The Halo franchise is one of those iconic console exclusive ones that we’d love to play on our PCs one day. Thankfully, a cool feature is coming our way since we’ll be able to play Halo 3 on PC through the Xbox 360 emulator Xenia.

The fact that Halo 3 on PC is playable doesn’t mean that the emulator works perfectly. As you can see from its showcase video, the edition is far from perfect but is one step towards the right direction.

As you can see from the Youtube video above, Halo 3 on PC emulator supports both single and multiplayer. However, noone can say it is close to be playable yet. As its description indicates, the emulator is far from over so we expect it to be polished and less laggy at some point so fans can actually experience Halo 3 on PC.

Furthermore, the Halo 3 emulator is glitchy and its performance is too poor for it to be playable. Textures are really premature and could do some serious damage to your eyes if you come around experimenting on it. However, all the assets of Halo 3 are there and look spot on, so texturing and polishing it is a possible outcome.

Xenia emulator is an experimental project for now. The goal of this project is to experiment, research, and educate on the topic of emulation of modern devices and operating systems. All information is obtained via reverse engineering of legally purchased devices, games, and information made public on the internet.

As for Halo on PC as a franchise, Microsoft is considering it happening officially, however, 343 Industries is caught up with more projects for the time being. Getting the chance to see the franchise hitting PC is not a science fiction theory but it will take some time before we actually see this happening. Let’s see if Microsoft have something related Halo at E3 2018.
