2K announces Inaugural Global Event, 2KFest

On November 13, 2K officially announced their “inaugural global event” called 2KFest. The event will celebrate 21 years of 2K through a special 24-hour live event. The “first of its kind” event will be live-streamed online. The even hosts will be sports broadcaster, Ros Gold-Onwude along with FIFA World Cup Golden Glove winner, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois of Real Madrid.

The special event will also feature WNBA and NBA stars and legends, as well as musical talent and global influencers. There will also be exclusive 2K content in what is described as “an action-packed day of experiences.”

The announcement comes just a day after NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Edition launched on the Sony PlayStation 5, and several days after its Xbox Series X launch. Fans will soon be able to celebrate the virtual basketball game as it continues on with the next-gen consoles.

NBA 2K21 cover stars, legends part of event lineup

Also in Friday’s big announcement, they revealed many of the WNBA and NBA stars who will be on hand for the 2KFest event. Last year’s cover star, Anthony Davis is listed, as are NBA 2K21 cover stars Damian Lillard and Zion Williamson. Lillard graces the Current-Gen cover, while Zion is on the NBA 2K21 Next-Gen cover.

Other basketball stars will include Candace Parker, Jayson Tatum, Ben Simmons, and Kevin Durant, along with legends Vince Carter and Shaquille O’Neal. In addition, there will be a number of global influencers and musical talents featured for the event.

2K revealed that musical talent will include Damian Lillard aka D.A.M.E. Dolla, who appeared on the NBA 2K21 Soundtrack. Lillard’s track “Kobe” with Snoop Dogg and Derrick Milano is amongst featured songs in the game. Other musical artists listed as 2KFest performers include Quavo, Saweetie, 88rising, and Aitch.

2K’s 2KFest arrives on Friday, November 20, starting at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. It will run for 24 hours, officially ending on Saturday, November 21, at 12:00 a.m. PST. Viewers can watch the live stream on Twitter, YouTube, and Twitch channels.
