All the New Skaven Coming in The Twisted and The Twilight DLC

Next week, on the 3rd of December, Creative Assembly will be releasing The Twisted and The Twilight; the next major Lord Pack DLC for Total War: Warhammer 2. Featuring two new Legendary Lords and content for both the Skaven and the Wood Elves, the DLC is the first major content expansion since The Warden and The Paunch, earlier this year.

The Twisted and The Twilight: Skaven Lords & Heroes

The headline feature for the Skaven in The Twisted and The Twilight is, of course, their new Legendary Lord; Throt the Unclean. Leader of Clan Moulder, the last of the Skaven Great Clans to come to Total War: Warhammer 2, Throt is a horribly mutated brute with three arms and a never-ending hunger. His Creature-Killer weapon gives him impressive Anti-Large damage which, combined with his overall toughness, make him a formidable monster-killer. Plus, he can even ride a Brood Horror, one of the new Skaven monsters coming in this DLC.

The Skaven aren’t getting any new Lords in The Twisted and The Twilight, but they are getting two new Heroes. The Packmaster is a support character who also has good Anti-Large damage and the ability to ride a Brood Horror. Plus, they can summon Wolf Rats in battle to support your forces. The Skaven Chieftain, meanwhile, isn’t included in the DLC but is instead releasing as standalone Free-LC content.

Finally, Throt also has access to a new Legendary Hero; one of only a very small number that have come to the game thus far. This character is Ghoritch; Throt’s most formidable creation. This huge, mutant rat ogre possesses the brain of a Chaos champion who once served Archaon and comes equipped with a range of powerful combat abilities.

The Twisted and The Twilight: Skaven Units & Monsters

All told, the Skaven will be getting three new additions to their roster in The Twisted and the Twilight, plus three new Regiments of Renown. These new units and monsters are as follows:

  • Wolf Rats: This new unit gives the Skaven access to a dedicated mobile skirmisher beast unit, akin to Chaos Warhounds or Dire Wolves. There are two variants of this unit available, one with poison attacks, and another with armour-piercing damage.
  • Brood Horror: A powerful new anti-infantry monster. This huge hairless rat isn’t as big or tough as a Hell Pit Abomination, giving the Skaven a cheaper alternative.
  • Mutant Rat Ogre: Another monster which sits somewhere between the Brood Horror and Hell Pit Abomination, this enlarged rat ogre has more powerful attacks and considerably more mass.

  • Pit Fighters of Hell’s Deep (Rat Ogres): A new Regiment of Renown unit of rat ogres, the Pit Fighters of Hell’s Deep have a powerful Berserk ability. This means that they gain greater stat bonuses the longer they are engaged in combat. As such, they have considerably more punch than standard rat ogres.
  • Morskittar’s Hellion (Mutant Rat Ogre): A unique variant of the new Mutant Rat Ogre, Morskittar’s Hellion comes equipped with two powerful abilities. The first is ‘Zzzzap!’ a debuff effect which imposes a -10 second penalty to the ability cooldowns of anybody it hits. Additionally, every 15 seconds when the Hellion is in combat, it unleashes a small vortex effect for 2 seconds, damaging nearby enemies.
  • The Thing-Thing (Hell Pit Abomination): This lumbering monster is even more horrible than a regular Hell Pit Abomination thanks to its special buff ability. When activated, the Thing-Thing gains a major bonus to its combat stats, but also Rampages.
