Apex Legends Season 5 is due to begin early next month on the 12th of May, shortly after the end of Season 4, which recently got a one-week extension. Thus far, Respawn has been as tight-lipped as usual regarding upcoming content. However, that looks to be about to change; the studio has announced that they will be releasing a new Stories From the Outlands video tomorrow, ahead of the start of Apex Legends Season 5. This video will undoubtedly reveal the identity of the next upcoming Legend.
Stories From the Outlands: Legacy of a Thief
‘Legacy of a Thief’ is the title of tomorrow’s Stories From the Outlands video. The cinematic character trailer will be debuting at 10:00 AM PT tomorrow (the 30th of April). Given the title, it now seems extremely likely that the next Legend to come to the game will indeed be Loba; the much-rumoured thief whose appearance and abilities were revealed by data-miners during Season 4. Although Respawn has surprised fans before (killing off Forge in his own Stories From the Outlands video, for instance), it seems unlikely that they would do so twice in a row.
Certainly, it will be interesting to get a glimpse into Loba’s backstory, and get confirmation or not of the different rumours. Some fans believe that she might be the daughter of the man murdered by Revenant in ‘Assimilation,’ for example. In gameplay terms, Loba could also introduce some very interesting shifts to the Apex Legends meta. This is due to her unique play-style; her backstory as a thief apparently translates to a focus on finding and acquiring loot. Rumours and leaks have indicated that she will have the ability to see loot through walls, for instance.
It’s currently unknown what else might be coming to Apex Legends with Season 5 alongside the new Legend. Typically, each new season has also brought a new gun, for example. It’s also possible that the Evo Shields and Evo Armor featured during events in Season 4 could become permanent additions. Whatever the case, Apex Legends fans should start to hear much more about Season 5 after the release of tomorrow’s video. The launch of the new season is now less than two weeks away, after all.
