Upcoming Borderlands 3 Broken Hearts Day Event Announced

As Respawn prepares to launch their Apex Legends Valentine’s Day Rendezvous event, Gearbox has today announced their own Valentine’s Day event for Borderlands 3; the Broken Hearts Day event. Due to launch alongside a major patch on the 13th of February, the Borderlands 3 Broken Hearts Day event will be a week-long seasonal event featuring themed cosmetics and game mechanics.

The Borderlands 3 Broken Hearts Day Event

During the Borderlands 3 Broken Hearts Day event, players will have the opportunity to earn cosmetics by “breaking” hearts. Like the Bloody Harvest seasonal event, players will be able to start this event by speaking with Maurice, who will be your contact throughout. When the event is active, players will find literal floating hearts around some enemies throughout the game, and these need to be broken. Every heart that players break will “break” with a different effect. “Some will fall to the ground with a fiery explosion,” explains Gearbox; “while others might drop loot or briefly turn enemies into allies.”

The number of hearts you break will be tracked by Maurice. When you reach a certain number, you’ll earn one of event cosmetic rewards. Once you break your first 10 hearts, you’ll get the first reward; the “ECHOcardiogram” Echo Skin. At 25, you’ll earn the “Cosmic Romance” Weapon Tricket. The top three rewards are earned at 50, 75, and 100 hearts, respectively, however.

At 50, players will get the first actual weapon; the “Terminal Polyaimorous” Legendary Maliwan SMG. At 75, you’ll get the “Heartbreaker” Vault Hunter Skin. Finally, at 100, you’ll get the top event reward; the “Wedding Invitation” Legendary Jakobs Sniper Rifle. These will be available once the event goes live at 3:00 PM PT on the 13th of February, following the end of the Rare Chest Riches event. The event will be live for one week, ending at 8:59 AM PT on the 20th of February. If you don’t want to participate in the event, there will actually be an option to opt out on the game’s main menu.
