The Call of Duty 2020 Campaign Will Feature at Least Four Settings

At present, there is still no official confirmation from Activision that the upcoming Call of Duty 2020 title is ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War,’ as is widely believed. However, a long series of leaks have revealed more and more about the game. Now, a new datamining leak has seemingly confirmed the different settings that will feature in the game’s campaign; settings which will range across at least four different countries.

Call of Duty 2020 Setting Details Leak

Recently, ‘The Red Door‘ – an upcoming closed alpha for the Call of Duty 2020 game – accidentally leaked early on the Microsoft Store. This leak gave dataminers a chance to delve into some of the alpha’s game files. As a result, details like the campaign mission and multiplayer map titles have been exposed. (And it has also been revealed that the game will have a Zombies mode.)

Call of Duty 2020 Settings Revealed by Leak

Alongside the titles of the game’s campaign missions, the leak also reveals the settings where these missions will take place. Previous rumours had, for instance, suggested that the game would take place in Vietnam. This rumour has now proven partially accurate; two of the missions, ‘Armada’ and ‘Prisoners’ will indeed take place in Vietnam, according to the leak. However, there are several other settings featuring across the game’s 13 story missions, all of which fit clearly into its Cold War time period.

The most frequent setting to feature in the Call of Duty 2020 title is Russia, the setting of the ‘Amerika,’ ‘Duga,’ ‘K.G.B.,’ and ‘Siege’ missions. Germany also features prominently as the setting of the ‘Hub,’ ‘Hub 8,’ and ‘Stakeout’ missions. There are also three side missions whose settings are not listed; ‘Takedown,’ ‘Tundra,’ and ‘Yamantau’. Finally, there is a single mission which actually takes place in Nicaragua; ‘Revolucion’. Most likely, these settings suggest that gamers could see the Vietnam War, espionage in East/West Berlin, and the CIA role in backing the Contras during the Nicaraguan Revolution., among other things
