CD Projekt Red Launches GWENT: Iron Judgement Expansion

Iron Judgement, the latest expansion for GWENT, The Witcher Card Game, is now available to play. Recently launched by CD Projekt Red, the GWENT: Iron Judgement expansion follows on from Novigrad by focusing on changes to gameplay mechanics. Specifically, and as the name implies, it sees the return of reworked Armour mechanics to the game.

The New GWENT: Iron Judgement Expansion

Although the GWENT: Iron Judgement expansion may not bring a new faction or any new faction leaders to the game, as previous expansions have done, it does still bring plenty of new cards. In fact, the expansion adds new cards to every one of the six factions, as well as 21 neutral cards. Examples, which were revealed by CD Projekt Red ahead of the release, include Battle Preparation, Iron Falcon Infantry, Dwarven Chariot, Redanian Knight, and Natural Selection.

However, the focus of the Iron Judgement expansion is on changing the gameplay mechanics available in GWENT with the addition of four mechanics; Armour, Barricade, Defender, and Exposed. The first of these is a returning mechanic, albeit with a few changes; cards that have Armour are protected from enemy damage, but only so long as they retain that Armour. The Barricade ability, meanwhile, is an ability which activates only if its card currently has Armour. Conversely, Exposed abilities activate only when their card loses its Armour. Finally, cards with the Defender trait can protect ally cards which are on their row.
