Destiny 2: Festival of the Lost Gets Its Own Trailer

Today marks the beginning of Destiny 2’s Halloween-themed Festival of the Lost event, a returning event from the original Destiny. To commemorate the occasion, Bungie has released a trailer for the event which recaps its various components.

The Festival of the Lost will stick around for the following three weeks, concluding on November 6. While the event is active Destiny 2’s Tower social space sports an appropriately spooky veneer, but that’s just the beginning. As the below trailer shows, players can collect fun Destiny-themed masks and even a unique auto rifle called Horror Story. These items are obtained by spending Fragmented Souls, a new currency type earned from bounties acquired from Amanda Holliday.

Amanda Holliday will be the unofficial Festival of the Lost ringleader.

The trailer also reveals that Horror Story comes fully masterworked at 600 power with the Zen Moment and Rampage perks. Given how coveted such a weapon would be, players will likely need to put in some work for it. Said work is also likely to involve the event’s new temporary PvE activity, the Haunted Forest.

The Haunted Forest is a corrupted version of Mercury’s Infinite Forest. In terms of gameplay, the Haunted Forest throws harder and harder enemies at players for 15 minutes. The activity can be attempted solo, via matchmaking, or with a premade group. It’s safe to assume Amanda Holliday’s new bounties will involve the Haunted Forest, further encouraging players to attempt it.

Along with the masks and Horror Story, players can also acquire fun new emotes and other cosmetic items. Said items will also come more easily since each max level “level up” will grant two separate Bright Engrams. In addition to the standard Steadfast Engrams, Ephemeral Engrams also drop during the Festival of the Lost.

Meanwhile, Bungie has also significantly upped the value of Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion. From today onward, those who purchase Forsaken also get Destiny 2’s expansion pass for free. This ensures new players are all caught up on Destiny 2’s first content year as soon as they own Forsaken.
