Destiny 2’s penultimate Invitation of the Nine bounty sends players to the Dreaming City to check some more PvE boxes. As usual, Invitations of the Nine are available from the weekend merchant Xur for nine Legendary Shards apiece. The Invitations themselves have no time limit, but they must be done in sequential order each week. Players must also own Destiny 2’s Annual Pass to pick up the Invitations.
Destiny 2 The Hangman Invitation of the Nine Bounty Walkthrough
Destiny 2’s Hangman bounty has four steps in total, three of which involve killing certain enemy types in the Dreaming City. Fortunately, as with previous bounties, you can knock out multiple steps at once by participating in the bounty’s associated Strike. Since The Hangman is all about the Dreaming City, you’ll need to complete The Corrupted Strike.
The Hangman also requires that you gather nine metaphysical samples from Hive, Scorn, and Taken enemies in the Dreaming City. The Corrupted is chock full of Taken so getting all nine samples from a single run should be easy. You might even get a few Scorn or Hive samples, but likely not enough to meet the bounty’s requirements.
For the remaining Scorn and Hive samples you’ll need to head into Destiny 2’s Dreaming City outdoor patrol zone. Scorn are pretty plentiful so you shouldn’t have much trouble there, but Hive might be a bit tricky. Hive actually do spawn in the Divalian Mists area you initially spawn into, they’re just not as plentiful as Scorn. Even more annoying is the fact that metaphysical samples have a somewhat low drop rate. Just keep hunting down Hive and Scorn and you should get all the samples you need before long.
Mystery and Potential
With the samples in hand and The Corrupted conquered, it’s time to claim your rewards. Select the ‘Mystery and Potential’ node from the Gambit subscreen in your Destiny 2 Director to spawn into The Derelict. Proceed through the portal and down into the ominous pit to witness a new lore tidbit involving The Drifter. You’ll also receive a powerful gear drop for your efforts.
