Destiny 2’s winter-themed ‘The Dawning’ event is coming around for another run starting tomorrow, December 11. While the event is active players can participate in new baking-themed quests and unlock some pretty cool rewards. Among those rewards are Legendary gear drops, a unique heavy machine gun weapon, and a Sparrow that spawns Glimmer-filled presents.
Destiny 2 The Dawning 2018 Event
Much of this year’s Dawning event revolves around Eva Levante and her baking supplies. By defeating enemies and completing open-world activities, players gather baking ingredients and then use them to bake cookies. Players can then create different cookie types depending on the ingredients used, from basic Chocolate Ship Cookies to Gjallardoodles. Eva provides a few sample recipes, but there are many more recipes players need to discover on their own.
Players can redeem baked cookies to complete Dawning bounties or simply gift them to select NPC’s. In return, players unlock a variety of different rewards including the following:
- Weapon Mods
- Enhancement Cores
- Legendary Armor and Weapons
- A unique ‘Avalanche’ heavy machine gun featuring random perk rolls
Perhaps the most interesting reward of all, though, is the new Dawning Sparrow mount. The new Sparrow utilizes a pair of unique present-spawning perks. By boosting or performing tricks, Sparrow riders spawn presents which award Glimmer when opened. Sadly, these present-spawning perks are only active during The Dawning, but the Sparrow is also equipped with an instant-summon perk.
Destiny 2’s 2018 iteration of The Dawning kicks off tomorrow, December 11, and lasts until Tuesday, January 1. The event naturally adds new cosmetic items into the Eververse store as well, including new Ghost shells, ships, and emotes. One of those emotes is also the first ever multiplayer emote (a long-requested feature). More information on The Dawning 2018 event is outlined in this Bungie blog post.
